Right to shelter and an adequate amount of food.

1. Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control. 
 

2. Motherhood and childhood are entitled to special care and assistance. All children, whether born in or out of wedlock, shall enjoy the same social protection. 

 

1.This right refers to an adequate standard of living. It ensures that you and your family live a comfortable life – meaning having food, clothing, housing, medical and necessary social services. If this is unachievable as you are out of work, sick, disabled, widowed, of old age or any other circumstances that is beyond your control help will  be given to you.

2.This right recognises that mothers with children should be given extra support, help and special care eg – maternity leave.
